No Matter What Their VC Title Says Always Give Your Best Pitch

I'm a firm believer that everyone is somebody no matter what title or status they have. Neither one phases me. I've met Presidents, NBA Players such as Michael Jordan, a Princes and billionaire investors who can change your life with a stroke of the pen or a tweet. But as an entrepreneur in the Venture Capital, Angel Investor and technology startup space you do need to know and understand the role of the person you're pitching to.

For example two startups I was working with earlier this year both had meetings with the same VC firm. One met with [...]

What is the greatest internet failed startup of all-time? Ask Quora!

While browsing Quora the user generated questions and answers site that's created, edited, and organized by everyone who uses it I came across an interesting question. It was "(93/3) What is the all-time greatest failed Internet startup?

Some of the answers brought back memories of the first dot com bubble and included startup such as etoys.com, Amp'd Mobile, Boo.com, Friendster, and Pets.com. The amount of money the startups blew is just plain crazy. 200 million here, 150 million there. No wonder the Lean Startup movement has gained so much momentum.

Google search algorithm changed with more focus on original content

Yesterday Matt Cutts posted that Google has changed their search algorithm to focus more on original content. Below is an excerpt from his post:

My post mentioned that “we’re evaluating multiple changes that should help drive spam levels even lower, including one change that primarily affects sites that copy others’ content and sites with low levels of original content.” That change was approved at our weekly quality launch meeting last Thursday and launched earlier this week.

This was a pretty targeted launch: slightly over 2% of queries change in some way, but less than half a [...]

Question: Which Quora users have the most followers? Answer: Ask QuoraTop

Hat tip to Louis Gray who posted about QuoraTop. QuoraTop provides a list of the Quora users who have the most followers. It's like twitaholic but for Quora. Is this another sign that Quora is the next big thing? Maybe but that's just tech bubble talk. Anyway, I thought Quora was all about questions and who could provide the best answers and not about who has the most followers... Louis said it best, "The second-most popular activity on the Internet (ego stroking)" .

Regardless, QuoraTop started because of the "Which Quora users have the most followers?" question on Quora and thus [...]

The question and answers guide to Quora: How to get the best value out of Quora and look smart at the same time.

To say that Quora the questions and answers site is off to a good year is an understatement. Launched in June 2009 in private beta Quora has seen a massive growth in page views and user registration with many speculating how and why. Some give credit to Robert Scoble and the Scoble affect. Others to MG and the TechCrunch gang for consistently referencing Quora in blog post. All makes me wonder who has shares into Quora but that’s another post.

Regardless if you think Quora is valuable or not, bloggers, social media enthusiast, main stream media and brands are flocking to Quora trying [...]
