Today is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. An American federal holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his life’s work as a civil rights activist as he protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. In 2016, it’s hard to believe that we need more “Dr. Kings” than ever before with the current state of police injustice, high unemployment numbers among African-Americans, the business of private prisons. Along with the current racial tensions in America surrounding the inclusion of all people welcomed in the great USA mainly from some our presidential candidates. We also need more “Dr. Kings” in tech. As diversity and inclusion in tech, startups, venture capital and the workforce which is almost as segregated as the education system in 1970 and let’s not forget about America’s current education system.

Still, as a nation, we have made a lot of progress. I’m glad we have a day of reflection to honor the work and passion Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He lived and died for the cause and his impact give us hope. His words inspire us all to achieve greatness, love all and create a just society for all women, men and children of all races and genders.
