The don’t blame it on me U.S. National Debt Infographic

infographics Life

As some of you know I do my best to avoid talking about politics and religion but the U.S. National Debt Infographic is one I just had to post. One reason is because of our current economic situation and two is, it’s a clear infographic that I think reads… “don’t blame it on me”. FYI I’m not taking sides or anything as I feel that it’s a “Country” issue and not one party but the infographic speaks for itself.

  • Smaller Government

At first glance this is a nice, easy to understand chart. Let me also preface this by saying I am by no means a fan of Bush policy, but I have two main points to mention about this chart. First, one should note that the Bush policies span 8 years while Obama’s are only for 2 1/2 years, so Obama has quite of bit more spending to do if he continues this trend over an equal time period. Second, where is the rest of the government spending? You can’t pick and choose which expenses constitute debt and which ones don’t. If I bring home $2000 a month and I spend $500 on rent, $500 on eating out, $500 on clothes, and $500 on a car, and then I buy a house that has a mortgage of $1200 is my debt because of the mortgage or is it because of the clothes or eating out? You have to examine every dollar that is spent, not just certain expenses that make a nice looking chart. Where is the troop surge expense (is the troop surge cost attributed to Bush because he started that war even though the surge was done under Obama’s time in office)?  Where are the entitlements on this chart?
