It seems that major brands are jumping on the QR Code bandwagon. Earlier this year it was Calvin Klein, now FOX Network has announced that viewers can gain instant access to content for FOX shows via FOX CODES (custom QR codes for Fox). Just last week I saw Gap use QR code in stores for user generated apparel recommendations. Both Best Buy and AT&T have released mobile apps with QR code readers too. Soon you’ll see QR Codes at Best Buy locations like the one above as well.  The question I have about the FOX Network QR code/ Fox Code what if you don’t have a DVR then you’re going to have to be quick with your favorite QR reader or just keep watching FOX for the next QR code to flash on screen if you want to scan it. That’s probably what FOX is going for but note, QR codes stand for Quick Response not quick rush to show a code. For example look for the QR code at the end of the video below. It shows for 1 second.

Great information! You show us 11 iphone apps in your QR folder and feature 10. What is the QuickReader app that you don’t mention?

For a quick scan I like QR reader. It scans QR code and opens the result without another click, but it show banner ads with the URL. Unboxed opens the results full screen without ads, but requires that extra click. I really like quiQR because you can scan or create QR codes right on the iPhone for 5 different functions.

There seems to be new QR Readers every day!

Thanks for your input on QR marketing madness – the time has come!

As a real estate marketing firm, we are already seeing tech-savvy agents put QR codes to use on their for sale sign “riders”. It offers techie home buyers instant access to the details of a property web page. Plus, by placing a domain-based URL shortener in the QR code, you can track the direct access traffic to the page on your website.

We will be discussing this technology and it’s practical application for real estate during our upcoming AllAccess live stream next week. Wayne, let me know if you would be available to be a guest on our broadcast. @rewebcoach

I’ve been using i-nigma (http://www.i-nigma.com/i-nigmahp.html) and it’s been working fairly well. I make my own silly codes and QRStuff.com and hang them all over the office :)

Thanks Jodi, I’m going to give both of them a try

That’s a good use of QR Codes. If you see one can you take a photo and email to me. Thanks for the show offer. I’ll be in touch.

The Quick Reader app is a book app, I should have taken it out of the folder before uploading the picture. Thanks for the app suggestion and comment.

    Hey Wayne,
You have the coolest things on your site here. I really liked how your site looked on my iPhone. Don’t know what you did, but it was different than what it looks like on my PC, way different.

My question is, it looks like you have a screen shot from a phone to show the apps. Have you found an app that lets you take a screen shot on your smart phone? I’ve had to use another camera to take a pic of my iPhone screen when I wanted to do that. What did you do?

    • Ervin

In order to take a screen capture of the iPhone or iPod, press and hold the Home button that is located at the bottom center of the iPhone and also press the Sleep / Wake key on top of iPhone and a screenshot of the existing screen will get saved to your iPhone or iPod photos folder. The iPod / iPhone screen will flash momentarily to indicate that a screenshot has been captured. Then sync you iPhone or iPod.

    Hallo Wayne,

Loaded question: Why are so many readers needed? I know modern phones have loads of storage, but what happens if you choose wrong one to scan a code? As a consumer I expect my reader app I chose to work everytime. Is this an issue?

Take a look at this Reader & Create QR App, simple and it even can read QR codes real-time. Can be used for location sharing as well.

Is there an app that tracks traffic for qr code?

  • J Jimenezsoto

Thanks for the feedback. Also, is there something out there that tracks existing QR codes? I created a QR Code Generator from the ZXing Project and it doesn’t have analytics.

You can receive cards from others by scanning their QR Code. Last but not least, whenever you update your QR Card information, all your contacts that already received your QR business card will be able to see and access the new information automatically. There are so many free QR code apps out there that work great why in the world are you showing all these pay apps that in some cases don’t work as well as the free apps out there? I-nigma is okay, but it’s scannable distance is lacking. I’ve found my favorite so far is tap reader on the iphone.
