Is MyTown the Farmville of Location-based services?

apps Featured Geo-Location

Ok I had MyTown installed on my iPhone a long time ago, then I deleted it. But after a tweet about speaking on location-based services @zaibatsu asked me to friend him on MyTown so I decided to give it another try.

After downloading MyTown I connected my Twitter & Facebook accounts and checked in. I know MyTown doesn’t get as much tech coverage as some of the other popular location-based social networks but from what I’ve read it has more users than most of them. But outside of @zaibatsu I don’t know anyone using it.

Do you checkin with MyTown? If so how are you using it? How would you rate MyTown over some of the other location-based social networks?

What is your favorite feature of MyTown and how should I use it?

Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

So funny, our 5 year old downloaded this on my iPhone a couple months ago and we've been playing, he loves the scratch-off lottery-type tickets that come up and after you register your email a fun “monster background”.

You're right it is more of a game mixed with a checkin app, I guess it has more value when you are bored (what? Wayne bored?) or in the mood to 'buy low, sell high' <- that's the trick for leveling up, anyway :-)

It would be great if they went cross-platform and launched it for Android and Blackberry! :)

True, we're working on more versions for TriOut and hopefully all apps will just work on any platform in the future

Thanks for the comment. I'm going to give MyTown a try for a while but it seems more like a game than anything.
