@iamDiddy says, take that to mogulus and the twitter nation
The King of Bad Boy & MTV ‘s Making the Band super producer Sean aka Diddy Combs is officially taking over or at least trying to take over twitter. In recent weeks Diddy has been pimping his twitter profile (@iamDiddy) more than Donnie’s 1st album and although I didn’t see the show, I heard he was on Ellen talking about twitter like he was the cofounder … only Diddy.
The other day I saw a tweet by Diddy saying he was live and it went to his Mogulus live stream url http://www.mogulus.com/ptwittytvlive Take a look at Diddy on Mogulus, it was short lived..
Diddy was forced to switch to Mogulus after high traffic volume shut down his feed at Ustream.TV. Surprisingly, while Diddy was broadcasting on Mogulus, the Ustream.TV team contacted him and asked him to come back to Ustream.tv because they worked things out. Ok, Diddy… I wish I had that problem. Either way, the next day Diddy was all set with a custom Ustream.TV design, without the normal Ustream.TV chat but a tweetgrid.com widget. Ustream.TV show url: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ptwittytv

Why tweetgrid, instead of the live chat? Simple: @iamDiddy is all about the tweets and followers. He even said on the Mogulus live stream that he wasn’t responding to the chat but only tweets. On top of that, guess what the #1 trending word was on search.twitter.com Friday? Diddy.

So can the man who has the #1 show on MTV now have the #1 show on twitter and Ustream.TV? Only time will tell. Also check out: P Diddy Becomes the Newest Celeb to Use Ustream.tv on Mashable.com.
- What are your thoughts on P.Twitty.TV?
- Is Diddy over doing it or is he showing the rest of the music industry how to use social media to survive?
- What music artist would you like to see use social media like Diddy?
- Did Mogulus miss an opportunity to work with Diddy while he was using their service?

Take that on Youtube…
Take That is an English pop group consisting of members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and, formerly, Robbie Williams. All perform primarily on vocals though each have some instrumental talent/song-writing capability….

Boooo to Diddy! I`m not a fan of famous people taking over twitter and using it as another soap box for them to disseminate information rather than conversate. And it`s tweet, not twit, Diddy! (I`m one of those twitizens who hates the misuse of twitter by celebs)

its a beautiful thing when celebs “get” twitter. i’ve been waiting for this day.
diddy is smart and knows exactly what he’s doing [marketing]. he’s letting his followers IN the studio.. hearing the latest tracks he’s working on — but at the same time making his tweets feel a bit personal. sheeer brilliance.
the @iamddiy effect is real. this week alone he broke twtpoll and ustream.

Diddy is a genius plain and simple. He has added a much needed boost into the twitterverse. Is he marketing his stuff? Absolutely, but face facts people Diddy has charisma and is more interactive than 99% of the supposed Twitterati. I think it is awesome that he has blown into twitterverse and shown the supposed “tech gurus” how to really engage people. His message is all about positivity and music. Diddy has thrown the land of twitter into a much brighter place with his tweets.

Interesting comments from both, one likes it and the other doesn’t’. Have you notice how some of Diddy’s artist are now on twitter too?
I wonder who will be the next artist to start live streaming and tweeting during production?

@scottataylor you have a good point, I remember when everyone was giving Britney Spears @britneyspears a hard time for not twitter-ing herself, now Diddy is showing everyone as an artist/producer how to get it done …

First let me say that Diddy owes what ever social media acumen he has to @ryan_leslie who introduced him to the concept of vlogging in 2005.
Diddy is trail blazing for the urban music industry, who is completely lost on social media in many ways. The danger here is that label execs and artist will see what he is doing and take as some sort of cheat code for building buzz. The problem is that business people from dinosaur industries like music, do understand the social media doesn’t work without good content and meaningful engagement.
Mogulus definitely lost out. ustream.tv demonstrated the agile hunger and hustle that @garyvee yells at us about all the time.
All in all I think having Diddy champion twitter is a good thing even if he mispronounces things. Personally i think that referring to twitter posts as “twittaz” sounds a lot cooler than saying “tweets”.

I’ve been on twitter when Puff shows up & it’s the most annoying, nonstop self promotion I’ve ever seen. I understand he’s doing exactly what he set out to do, get “publicity” and I guess for some people any publicity is good publicity. So, in that aspect he is a good “businessman”. However, on a more basic level. It has allowed me to see him for the “man” he truly is. A self-absorbed narcissist, who “needs” other people to feed his ego.

Diddy pinches my nerves, but he gets social networks. I don’t think he’s taking from twitter, but adding to it for what he does. Some have got to learn that just because you see it on twitter, doesn’t mean the end user is using twitter alone. We’ve long since used twitter away from twitter, which is how twitter started – to incorporate updates elsewhere. We brought out readers to twitter.
People get frustrated when you use it for business – but in today’s world everything is business. If not yours, its somebodies. We are living in the age of 1st hand information and building relationships. Celebrities will want to keep up. It might cut down on the papparazzi and bloggerazzi.
