What makes a successful twitter iPhone app? A tweetie screencast video review. My 5th most asked question: What twitter app do I use on my iPhone?

F.A.Q. Featured iPhone Mobile Twitter

If you’ve visit my F.A.Q section then yes I skipped #3 or #4 but I’ll get to those later but #3 will be how I got so many twitter followers and #4 will be who created my twitter background and the history of twitter backgrounds. Keeping with the twitter theme here my 5th most asked question is “what twitter iPhone app do I use on my iPhone.

Before tweetie was released I was using the iPhone web app Hahlo mainly because the amount of people I’m following on twitter and the other iPhone applications were hanging on loading my twitter public stream and my replies. Then a few weeks ago my good friend @Ocell told me about tweetie and I’ve been using it ever since. Tweetie is made be atebites and can be downloaded from the iTunes here [app link] Here’s a screencast demo of tweetie.

A few other notes about successful twitter iPhone apps:

Remember to keep it simple and clean – one of the reasons why twitter works is that it’s simple.

  • Separate the replies from the direct messages and public tweets. I love twitterrific but this is one of the biggest complaints I hear about the app.
  • Make the app have some PEE, that’s stands for Popularity EnhancEr. – One trend about successful iPhone apps is that it either shoots, farts or is a flashlight and tweetie does two out of the three

tweetie

  • Monetize it. – tweetie cost $2.99 and just look at what tweetdeck a popular desktop twitter air app has just received VC funding.

What is your favorite iPhone twitter app and what desktop twitter app do you use?

I’ve used most of the iphone twitter clients and tweetie is the best. tweetsville had a lot of promise and good functionality, but it crashed A LOT on me.
TwitterFon is the best free twitter client.

This is creepy that you posted this today. I just reconnected on Twitter and added connected with you because I’m on a heavy social networking campaign this month. I just added twitterific to my iphone today. I’m going to check it out for a week and see how it works for me.

Why i don’t like Tweetie and choose Twitterfon instead:
    1) Cache. Every time you start Tweetie, u wait till is everything loaded again again
    2) for EVERY single operation (reply, go to link, search, trends etc.) you need at min 1 click more than in twitterfon
    3) for reading Instapaper you must go to Safar anywayi. Than i use Evernote with links from twitterfon. Its the same for me.
    4) Call me freak, but i don’t need fart sounds
    5) widescreen tweeting is good, but why tweetie doesn’t use accelerometer?
    6) if i decide to erase tweet before sending i need to use cancel-don’t save or use the backspace. In twitterfon is garbage can.
Thats just few issues why i personally prefer twitterfon more.
P.S. Big apologise for my english ;)

tweetie 1.2 still is NOT the app. We need a better twitter iphone app. Where is it? Why doesn’t twitter do it? I’m using Summerizer and Justupdate currently.

@William I agree with you on wondering why Twitter doesn’t create an iPhone app but for me tweetie is the best and fits my twitter mobile needs.

@matesola I’ve tried twitterfon also but it hangs for me. I know I’m following a lot of tweeple but I can’t deal with the hang on load. I do agree with you on that for free twitter iPhone apps people should give twitterfon a look.
